ROGO School is an 11 month (January – November) hybrid, unpaid internship where you gain real hands-on ministry experience while also working on your personal development. It is designed to equip and empower leaders to join the Sandals Church staff team or become ministry partners.
You will spend your time learning about leadership, spiritual formation and theology from our senior leadership and working directly alongside our staff for hands-on ministry experience.
This application process can take between 2 to 3 months. Applications open 9/1/19 and close 11/16/19. The application process is different for each track but all will include:
- An application.
- A panel interview.
- A spiritual health assessment.
- An Information Session
Candidate must complete the following things by December 14 in order to be officially accepted:
- Complete Soul Care Training (online and Practicum)
- Complete REAL Workshops
- Sign Commitment form + Payment plan (will be explained at the information session).
To build skills (being competent and agile), character (being mature and Christlike) and relatability (being authentic and relationally adept). Furthermore, ROGO School is designed to equip and empower leaders to join the Sandals Church staff team or become ministry partners.
There is no general tuition or program fee for ROGO School. You will, however, have to cover a few expenses during the course of the program. Payments will need to be made by January 11.
Below are some cost estimates:
- February retreat: $350
- Books/ Supplies: $100
- Self-Discover/ Enneagram: $10
You will also need your own vehicle, computer and mobile phone. You will be responsible for securing your living arrangements and expenses.
Please note, you may fundraise or break up the payments.
15-25 hours a week—including both on-campus time (for meetings and other responsibilities) and independent time (for projects, studying and journaling).
It will be natural for your workload during ROGO School to vary as projects come and go. We understand that your life situation and availability may change as well and can work with you to increase or decrease your responsibilities accordingly. Throughout the program, we will encourage you to devote as much time as you can to being on campus and involved with the life of the church.

- Be a baptized believer in Jesus Christ.
- Acknowledge the Sandals Church Statement of Faith.
- Agree to code of conduct and pass the background check.
- Complete Real Workshops and Soul Care Training by December 14.
We ask that you affirm the following expectations which are derived from our seven core values:

Furthermore, we ask that you commit to manage the totality of your life (i.e. personal and professional commitments) in a way that allows you to uphold these values and fulfill the expectations stated below:
- Attend and participate in two retreats.
- Attend and participate in all classes, missing no more than five total.
- Fulfill my writing and reading assignments, missing no more than five total.
- Meet with my mentor and supervisor monthly.
- Fulfill requirements and expectations of ROGO role.
- Attend service on the weekend.
Failing to uphold these expectations could result in disciplinary actions and or dismissal from ROGO School.
Neither. While ROGO School will include some seminary-level course work; it is primarily intended to focus on leadership development in a ministry setting. The program has been created to help bridge the gap between seminary and the practical skills needed to successfully lead the Church.
Many of the participants in ROGO end up getting hired on staff (full-time, part-time, temporary or permanent) or become a ministry partner. There is no guarantee each ROGO participant will get hired but our hope is you become a leader in ministry at Sandals Church.
